Estelle Mutum: £600m buying expertise

Estelle set up P2Business Solutions Limited in July 2011 following a number of years working across the Public and Private Sectors taking key roles with major Procurement and Business Transformation Programmes. She has a very good understanding of what it takes to deliver both operational effectiveness and strategic capability and ultimately results with an aptitude of working across all levels within organisations.

Estelle’s previous role was UK Country Purchasing Director for General Expense Shared Services, Thales UK, a substantial leadership role, based in Doncaster, but working across the UK, whereby she initiated and implemented a brand new Procurement Shared Service Operation cutting across 19 Legal Entities, transitioning 16 ERP Systems, managing £250m in spend whilst developing a Procurement Team with International responsibility. The Shared Service achieved Finalist at the 2009 CIPS Awards for new Procurement Start-Up

Prior to Thales UK, Estelle undertook a key role with North Yorkshire Police as Head of Support Services, responsible for Estates, Fleet and Procurement, she also undertook the role of Programme Director for the Estates Transformation Programme, which was a pivotal role working across North Yorkshire and the City of York with the Police Authority to design and deliver the Estates Strategy and transformation plan as an enabler to Safer Neighbourhoods Policing. On leaving North Yorkshire Police Estelle received a Certificate of Service for her services to North Yorkshire and the City of York.

Pre-2006 Estelle was a Management Consultant with Atos Origin, working on the Procurement Reform Programme with the Ministry of Defence in Bristol and also with Department of Works and Pensions in Leeds. Both on significant and complexed Procurement transformation programmes where stakeholder management and engagement were critical success factors.

Estelle started her career with GlaxoSmithKline as a YTS Trainee in 1986 and spent 14 years working across the supplychain in finance, demand management, procurement and strategic sourcing being one of the pioneers in the role out of Category Management, whereby GSK were one of the very first organisations in the UK to embark on this new methodology.

I’ve been supporting Yorkshire Mafia Procurement events for the past couple of years and in that time I have seen it grow, met some fantastic people and seen real benefits of networking and sharing good practice, therefore, supporting the conference was a very natural step for me of which I am very proud to be taking part.
